Types of industrial automation control

According to the flexibility and integration of manufacturing process, automation system can be divided into four basic types. The details are as follows:
1. Fixed automation
In this operation sequence to be performed, it can be fixed through device configuration. It is used for mass production and special equipment. Examples of this automation system are automatic assembly lines, distillation processes, and machine conveyor lines.
2. Flexible automation
This is an extension of programmable automation. This provides greater flexibility in dealing with product design differences. If you want to change the order of the process, the operator can issue commands in the form of code in the computer program. Lower level equipment receives field operation instructions without losing production time. This type of automation is used to manufacture multi-function CNC machine tools, automatic guided vehicles, etc.
3. Programmable Automation
Here, the operation sequence can be changed by changing the program. The operation sequence changes according to different product configurations. Programmable devices of new products can also input new programs. This type of system can be used for mass production, steel mills, industrial robots, etc.
4. Integrated automation
In this type, the whole system presents a fully automatic state under the control of the computer. From design process to scheduling, the whole system is fully automated. Even though these devices are handled by robots, the system is used in computer integrated manufacturing system.
